How to get rid of razor burn?
If you keep getting razor burn every time you shave, here are a few suggestions on how to get rid of razor burn after it has already occurred.
1.) Aloe vera – some people consider this the cure all for all cuts, but when it comes to razor burn, it really works well. It will help your skin recover much more quickly and help prevent further razor burn as just because you have razor burn doesn’t mean you can stop shaving. Some people claim that it reduces redness as well.
2.) The next time you shave, use shaving cream – the main cause of razor burn is shaving without using shaving cream. Shaving cream prepares the skin to be shaved, and really should be used for those with sensitive skin. For those with especially sensitive skin, even shaving cream might not prevent razor burn.
3.) Use a wire guard to prevent a close shave – shaving on top of razor burn is going to exponentially make your razor burn worse. Also, you are going to make a lot of ingrown hairs by doing this. You really should avoid shaving on top of razor burn if at all possible, but in some instances where you absolutely must shave then use a wire guard and shaving cream.
4.) Avoid aftershave – if you use aftershave on razor burn it is going to be incredibly painful. If you have sensitive skin you should avoid aftershave all together.
5.) Do not scrub or scratch your razor burn – this will drastically increase your chances of getting an infection so avoid touching your razor burn if at all possible.
The best thing you can do after getting razor burn is to no longer shave that area. If you find yourself getting razor burn, you might want to consider either hair removal cream or laser hair removal treatments.
